Close by are the attractions of the historical Naval Dockyard at Portsmouth, the D Day and Royal Marines Museum. For a bird’s eye view of the Solent Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower and for shopping – Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, Winchester or Guildford.

The beaches at Wittering and Hayling Island are within easy reach and sailing in the Solent is possible from numerous Marinas in the area. A day trip to the Isle of Wight should not be missed!

For those interested in the flora and fauna, Selborne and Selborne common (National Trust) are at hand, hard by, where Gilbert White wrote the ‘Natural History of Selborne’ – one of the first systematic observations of the natural world.
